Honeyboat Delicate definitely did not live up to its name. Woodenboat would be more accurate. This squash, from the Vancouver Farmer’s Market was totally bland and had a watery texture like the worst of the regular delicata. I know people love delicatas, but I still haven’t had one that had any flavour other than mild but insipid sweetness, and they generally seem to be watery and have small seeds hardly worth bothering to roast. I want to keep trying though, at least one more this season. Unlike regular delicata, Honeyboat had a slightly thicker skin which was barely edible, and was green and tan rather than green and cream-coloured. Definitely a hard pass.
